B J Cunningham Personal Portrait

Here it is! Finished and basically done. I took a picture of it with my phone so the quality is so so....but I thought that I would get it up right away. I hope that B J is pleased with it.

When Drawing the jersey....

When drawing the jersey you really have to keep in mind the direction you are shading. It is all about trying to keep the texture of the jersey and still have it look real. This is what I have learned...

This could be you! Visit my website to see details.

Almost Done (Just did the high detail work)

I have been plugging away at this drawing for a couple of days strait and I came to the Mountain...the face! This was difficult as I was forced to draw the face behind pure white bars on the football helmet! I finally got it done! Now, all that I need to do is finish the rest of the helmet and the jersey and I am basically done.

Porsche

It has been good for me to branch out into many different categories from which to draw...I have found that it is key to draw different textures and in different lighting. I decided that I should draw something metallic and smooth seeing as how I have done a lot with animals and fur. So, why not a smooth and beautiful Porsche!

BJ Cunningham

I thought that I would write a little about my current work seeing as it is extremely detailed and i am taking breaks in-between the stages of this piece. Don't get me wrong I do enjoy it; but I have always found it to be a good thing to regain perspective of what I am doing.

I am a MSU Spartan fan! I enjoy watching our rival U of M lose to MSU. I go to do that today in Buffalo Wild Wings. It came down to the last second. And UM is playing much better in basketball.

Well, one of my favorite players on the football team is BJ cunningham. He is a wide receiver, and, I think, an up and coming pro player. I was able to talk to him through facebook and get his permission to do this drawing. I just have BJ's right arm done but I will be finished this week (I hope).

Meeting a great artist

I was able to hang out with Jared Emerson in downtown Greenville. I was able to see him paint an oil portrait of a beautiful young girl for a client of his. I tried to soak up as much as I could. I watched for an hour (I think) and
we went up to "Spill the Beans" where I was going anyway to hang up another original. When we got to the coffee shop there was a police officer questioning the manager(Sarah Curtis) and good friend of mine about a robbery that had just happened. Jared said to me, "Dude, someone just stole your picture!" Hah ha. They had not but it did give me a little scare.

I'm Back

Wow it has been a long time...I thought that i would try to start blogging on a regular basis now. So much has happened it might take me a while to update. I have finished some new drawings. I have been all over the country. My son Linc is growing like crazy.

This is a drawing that I did for my wife's Grandpa. It turned out nice...and I am getting better at defining my detail. I have a strong urge to continue to plow ahead with drawing. I am going to teach some art classes in Greenville SC hopefully.
