Sunset Moth

Here it is.... My first acrylic painting! I love this picture. The painting is of a 'sunset moth.' This is the coolest moth I have ever seen! The original is on a 16x20 Canvas and will be up for sale at the IMAGINE THAT store in downtown Midland MI soon. This was a great first experience for me! I wish that all firsts went this well. Another first was the live streaming video that I have set up in my studio. This allows clients to visually watch me work even when they are not there! I am usually painting in the evening around 7:00pm EST. You can click on the video at the top pf the page in order to see me paint. I will be starting the biggest color pencil drawing of my life very by the end of this week! So i will hopefully have the live feed running by that time. Well, the time has flown I can barely believe that is already 11:00pm Where does the time go. Thanks for checking out my blog. Love you all.

A brand new Table

YES!! I'm so excited! I had a brand new drafting board made for a large size commission piece. I fell in love with blonde hard wood and it worked perfectly for a drafting table. I had a friend of mine, Ben Donnelly, build it for me and he did an excellent job! Thank you Ben! I decided to throw on some random pictures on the board so it doesn't seem bare. Also, you can't see it, but the table opens like a piano bench to reveal lots of storage space for my art stuff!
In the background you can see the picture of the butterfly that I'm currently working on. I'm trying to delve into more of the 'painting world'. It has been a little while since I've focused any amount of time into painting. However, it seems to be going great! Funny story, I accidentally mixed up my paint and painted in acrylic thinking it was oil! I was amazed at how fast the 'oil' was drying and I looked down only to notice that the tube said acrylic! I guess acrylic is growing on me. Enjoy the picture! I will have the final product for sale most likely. If you are interested, shoot me an email!

Love you all,
Joe

Back to the Pencil

So I could not help myself. I just had to draw with pencil. I do not know completely why, but I have always come back to it. It was here in Midland, MI where I fell in love with the pencil. I simply must draw this place. I am so thankful for the many blessings that I have been given here in Midland, and I appreciate the artistic surroundings. It is good to be home! This drawing is an 3x2 drawing on illustration board and is a miniature drawing. I will place much of my artwork on consignment at Imagine that in Downtown Midland. I am excited and anxious to see where this takes me.

All Things Big and Small

So I decided to draw on the smaller scale as well, and I noticed that i had to pay even closer attention to some of the small details. A small mistake becomes very large on a canvas of this size. Actually I used Illustration Board! I love it! It is heavy duty and not to thick. I will be drawing on this from now on. My goal has been to do a smaller size drawing everyday. I have a great desire to get better and better. I would love to make Drawing my life's work. I will sell these originals and make prints of course. So if there is anyone interested in a drawing let me know. Email me for price.
