The Flag

So I was able to get everything set up in the basement and start hamering away at the drawing. I decided to start with the Ship first and work my way out. I want to finish the ship by next week. This will be pretty difficult but possible. I am using Color pencil. This picture is a little dark, but it looks pretty crisp live.

Machine Gun Photography

So it was getting darker outside and I had a sudden urge to to take some photos. It has been quite cool in Midland. I love this weather! I think that it is just right for me. Anyway, I remembered seeing this sweet willow tree in a small feild just outside of Dow Corning. I love the trees in Midland! The trees are beautiful.

So my journey took me to the Tridge. I thought that I would look for silhouettes and found this nice shot. I could not help but feel drawn in to this path. Where does it go? Should I follow, or sit and watch passers-by? All in all, it was a great adventure. I widh that I had a better digital camera though. All in good time I suppose. Well, I had better get back to drawing. Goodnight everyone.

The Big One

Here we Go! I have undertaken the biggest art project ever! (For me) My Job is to draw from this reference photo below in color pencil on matte board size 48x29 in! But the craziest part is that the diminsions of the piece desired is quite wide, and I need to finish the sails.

So....I have almost finished with the new dimension on the computer, thus saving myself headaches later. I think that it is coming along great. I have had the hardest time trying to figure in all of the cables and sails and where they need to end up. I have had to use a bit of math, talent, and just plain instinct to feel my way throught the drawing. I hope to have this one done well before Christmas.
