Half way there

Just a quick update on the latest drawing. About half way there. If you noticed, I started with the eyes and nose and lips first. But the main thing that I always want to get right. Is the eyes.

fine and dandy

I used matte board, hb, 2b, 6b, and 8b pencils. I thought that it would be fun to take on an interesting perspective.

Latest Sketches

I have had the opportunity to do some more drawing. I love to draw. Why do I love to draw? I have some ideas, but I just can not get away from it. If anyone knows why they like to draw or why I love it. I found a new pencil. It is a 9xxxxb. I never heard of it before. It is extremely dark. It is soft, but almost charcoal like without the mess. I liked it. It does not blend easily. It worked out nicely.

Latest Song For Acapella playtime

I can still remember one of my favorite movies when I was a kid: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I loved it because I am a dreamer at heart, and I love the idea of a candy world. I have always been enchanted by the original music in the movie. My favorite song would have to be Pure Imagination. I decided to record it last night with my new MXL 990 microphone. I liked the results! I wanted to make this song with the closest dreamiest chords I could make without over powering the simple melody. Enjoy the sample!

A weekend in WI

I had a great trip to WI! My sister in law Brooke had a wedding this past weekend, and I was able to take some photos of all the fun that we had. The pictures tell most of the story. We went to bay beach with the Bridal party. It was an almost perfect day for pictures. I had fun with the new camera. The wedding went great! I wish that I could have put some moments in slow motion to soak it all in. Ah well. Such is life. Ever flowing.

Breaking the rules

I was able to travel this past weekend with the quartet to Alabama. We had a generator problem the would show up from time to time. When the generator stops so does the air and power for the electricity. Aside from a few issues with that, we were still able to sing on Sunday. While I was driving the bus ,later on that night I noticed the red emergancy light indicator on and pulled over to the nearest gas station. There was a leak in the in the air line somewhere. So Terry did his nest to locate the leak, but we could not locate it. We stayed the rest of that night and most the morning there. It was a long night. The bus is home safe now. Terry found a way to reconstruct the hose. While waiting that morning, I felt the urge to sketch. So I drew a picture of Elise. It was with her pen and paper. Thus I broke a rule. DO NOT ever draw on something you do not inted keep well like lined notebook paper. Oh well. I guess I will just say that it was artsy.

time to paint

I have been just dying to paint! hopefully, I will be able to paint this weekend. My next painting will be a painting of the sunset moth. I already have painted a smaller version , but I am going to do a 3 canvas size painting. It is so hard when I am so busy to be able to dive into my paintings , and for me to find the time to do a painting. I wish that somehow I could just make paintings and drawings part of my life. And make it my work.
I put this picture of the heels on because I realized that I had not shown the final product.

A Paint Job

So we were given a table and some chairs by some friends of ours in Midland MI. They were nice used chairs. Bethany and I decided to visit habitat for humanity and found a really cool darkwood table that was sturdy and had a leave in it. We picked it up but we needed chairs. So...I decided to paint the other chairs. Of course I did not check the weather that day because it looked so nice out and it was 80+ degrees out side with a light breeze. So I sanded down the chair and spray painted the chairs black. They took two coats. I also left just enough grain and original color so to keep a little character. They were turning out great... but I ran out of paint. So ran to.the store. Then it started to sprinkle. It stopped, and it started to sprinkle. I painted the last chair and just made it. I spayed a finish coat over top and they turned out great!

Downtown Greenville Revisited

My son Linc had a great time insisting on sitting on the perfect rock. We had an absolutly wonderful day downtown. The weather was perfect. There were a lot of people enjoying the day downtown. I stopped by Jerrad Emerson's art studio, but he was not there. We also Saw Carmen Scott at spill the beans coffee shop. All in all it was a wonderful day.

A trip to the Wilds

So while I am at work I am reminded the my brother in law is a the Wilds camp for a youth pastor's conference. I finish work like a mad man, so that we can leave as soon as possible. The roads were so crazy. I forgot how curvey and steep some the roads are in the hills. It was well worth the trip being able to see Brennen. This also a first for Link and Bethany. We were able to go out to eat with a few of the Northland grads and students. We went out to the old standard pizza hut. We had a good chat and said our goodbyes. Of course, I did have to go to work at 4:30 am the next day. I hope the the Wilds will continue to stand for what is right and not sway like so many other places seem to do.

A trip to florida

So the quartet took a trip to florida.  It has already been quite eventful! We started our trip in a bus at 12:00 at night and showed up at Venus Beach. It was still a little chilly but it was definately a great deal warmer than SC.  We sang tonight for a valentine's banquet and it went well.  It has definiatly been crazy trying to keep up with all of the music to learn and keep straight.   But, it is working out.  Anyhoooow,  time for bed.  Thanks everyone foe tunning in.  By the way, the new quartet CD will be avaliable soon.

Celtic Sounds

I have been involved with many things as of late.  One of those crazy things is a Christian production of Celtic Woman.  I took some pics of the mixer we installed yesterday and did quite a bit of sound checking and balancing of voices and a chamber orchestra.  I think that the ladies sound great and soon we will have the balance we are looking for.  If you are in the area it is a must see.
